Conventionally, most AC adapters guarantee an operating temperature of 0–40°C, and this is widely known. However, in applications such as communication equipment, security cameras, and industrial devices, even if installed indoors, locations exposed to sunlight or used in extremely cold regions may easily exceed this temperature range. Our wide temperature range AC adapters are guaranteed to operate in a wide range from -20°C to 60°C, making them well-suited to such demands.

Waterproof Support

Optimal for use in wet environments with IP65/IP67 protection

This Products supports IP65 standard as default. By adding potting (resin filling inside), it can be upgraded to IP67.
Although it's fundamentally an AC adapter and not recommended for full outdoor use, it's perfect for semi-outdoor areas or devices used near water such as residential facilities and security cameras.

Lightning Surge Protection

Support for lightning surge up to 10KV is available

While typical AC adapters generally comply with Level 2 or 3 of IEC61000-4-5 for lightning surge protection, we also support up to 10KV or higher based on customer requirements. Industrial equipment cannot be stopped due to lightning surges.
We collaborate closely with customers to provide customized lightning surge protection solutions, including verification of secondary-side grounding conditions and identification and mitigation of surge entry paths.

Long-Life Design

Products lifetime can be adjusted based on expectations

For all Products, we are able to consider adjustments to the specifications of the electrolytic capacitors in accordance with customer requirements, allowing for long-life customization.
For example, if there is a request such as 10-year lifespan under 70% rated load operation for 24 hours at ambient temperature of 40°C, we are able to consider whether such adjustment is feasible within the capabilities of the specific model. Although space on the Products's circuit board is limited, this has received positive feedback.

Products operating temperature range specification was changed

We were designing a new sensing device in-house and although the device itself could support operating temperatures from -20℃ to 60℃, the AC adapter we planned to use was only guaranteed between 0℃ and 40℃. We had given up on achieving the wider range and accepted the narrower one. At that time, UNIFIVE proposed a wide temperature range model, and we decided to consider adopting it. Not only did it meet the -20℃ to 60℃ specification, but it was also modified to guarantee a 10-year lifespan, allowing us to release our product with confidence.

We were troubled by surge intrusion

We faced issues with the adapters used in security devices in buildings being destroyed by frequent surges, leading to product returns from the market. Because these are security devices, if the adapter fails, doors cannot be unlocked, causing inconvenience to customers. Around that time, we started developing a new model and learned about UNIFIVE. After consulting with them, they proposed an adapter with an added varistor to improve surge protection, which we decided to adopt.

We adopted UNIFIVE's adapter for an advertising product used in semi-outdoor locations such as arcade streets in towns. Standard AC adapters don't guarantee waterproof performance, and though the device isn't fully exposed to rain, we were worried that rain splash might cause failures. UNIFIVE's waterproof adapter offered IP67 performance when potted, so we were able to use it with peace of mind.
