Case study of AC/DC Power Adapter for industrial equipment
On this page, we introduce custom development examples of AC adapters for industrial equipment and switching power supplies. Our company specializes in meeting detailed customer needs, making it possible to provide custom solutions for industrial equipment, such as achieving performance beyond standard specifications or customizing DC plugs.AC/DC Power Adapter
目次
In recent years, as more customers aim to downsize their equipment, an increasing number have been switching from open-frame power supplies (built-in type) to AC/DC Power Adapter.
For industrial equipment, rather than focusing solely on issues such as CB reports, the status of safety certifications, or compliance with various standards, we often receive inquiries requesting performance and functionality that exceed standard requirements, since the equipment is used in a wide range of environments.
Applications vary, including measuring instruments and analyzers, and customer requirements also differ, such as customizing labels and DC plugs.
Addressing Noise Issues
When the application is an analyzer, it may be installed in environments such as laboratories where many other devices are placed nearby. In such cases, noise can become an issue. If the equipment is already completed and internal adjustments are not possible, modifications must be made on the AC/DC Power Adapter side. Therefore, as noise countermeasures, we propose solutions such as changing MOS components, Y capacitors, and line filters, or attaching ferrite beads. For customers who prefer not to modify internal components of the AC/DC Power Adapter, we have also proposed attaching a ferrite core to the DC cable. Since the effectiveness of a ferrite core depends on its position, there are cases where we determine the most effective placement through trial and error.
Adjusting Cable Length and Enhancing Durability
When measuring instruments are used on factory lines, we sometimes receive requests to make the AC or DC cables longer than usual in order to secure power sources and ensure safe use of the AC/DC Power Adapter unit. Additionally, there are requests to change the DC cable to one with improved flex durability. Extending the AC side is possible; however, extending the DC side may result in voltage drop or reduced efficiency. In such cases, we respond while coordinating with the operating range of the equipment and, if necessary, the safety standards of the destination country requested by the customer.
Regarding flex durability, we can propose changing from parallel two-core wire to round cable. For requirements beyond that, although there are considerations such as MOQ and cost, custom solutions are available.
