We have received many requests from customers who want an original design AC/DC Power Adapter for their Products.

At UNIFIVE, our Products are made to order, and we can provide semi-custom support for each model on a per-project basis. Therefore, we do our best to accommodate such requests as much as possible. Of course, certain conditions may apply depending on the details. Even so, in most cases we are ultimately able to satisfy our customers, achieving a wide variety of original designs.

However, depending on the type and intended use of your equipment, the required safety standards and technical compliance differ, which means an appropriate AC/DC Power Adapter must be selected accordingly.

From UNIFIVE's design perspective, "safety first" takes priority over price and appearance when it comes to AC/DC Power Adapter, and design considerations inevitably come afterward. We balance the "safety first" principle from our design standpoint with the realization of our customers' "original design" requests. The challenges of original design are not limited to the "design appeal of the Products." As mentioned above, other risks may arise as well. Based on discussions with our customers, we often develop custom power supplies to achieve the desired original design while addressing such risks.

Examples of Original Design Support

Example 1: Creating a design like an interior accessory

Company A stated that the design of its own Products was the top priority. They contacted us wanting to design the entire Products, including the AC/DC Power Adapter, to perfectly match their product image while also meeting safety standards. We informed the customer of the necessary distances and space requirements on the internal circuit board to comply with safety standards. The customer then designed the exterior, housing, and the grip portion of a proprietary DC plug to prevent incorrect insertion, and we cooperated in the overall Products design.

In this case, the customer covered the costs of molds for the case housing and resin grip of the DC plug, as well as safety certification evaluation and design development expenses. As a result, they were able to sell their Products bundled with a one-of-a-kind AC/DC Power Adapter unlike any other in the world, and were extremely satisfied.

Example 2: Wanting color variations for the AC/DC Power Adapter

A home appliance manufacturer requested that since their own Products was white, they wanted the exterior housing and DC cable of the selected UNIFIVE AC/DC Power Adapter to also be white. They also wanted to prepare two color options, white and gray. By adjusting the colorant mixed into the resin material of the housing, we maintained the flame-retardant grade of the housing. Similarly, for the DC cable, we changed only the colorant without altering the flame retardant in the outer coating. This made it possible to offer two color variations while maintaining flame resistance.

Example 3: Changing the design of the Products package (individual packaging) to an original design

At electronics retail stores, portable charging AC/DC Power Adapter such as 12V and 24V models are sold by various companies. A customer selling such 12V and 24V charging AC/DC Power Adapter consulted us about changing the individual packaging design for retail sales. (For customers in the charger market, the blister pack and backing card directly influence product sales.)

The customer designed the blister pack and packaging (the plastic individual box and the backing card inside), and we created the molds for the backing card and plastic case to accommodate their design.

As a result, they were able to bring the Products to market with the exact design they desired, and were very satisfied.
