Basic Philosophy

UNIFIVE recognizes its responsibility to society as a power supply manufacturer and promotes sincere and sustainable corporate activities.

In providing Products and services, we emphasize quality, safety, legal compliance, and environmental consideration, and we value relationships of trust with society in all aspects of our business activities.

In addition, we believe that corporate responsibility should not only be stated as a policy, but also practiced in daily decisions and actions, and we are committed to continuous review and improvement.

Scope of Application: This policy applies to all domestic and overseas offices of UNIFIVE Co., Ltd. and to all officers and employees of the Group companies.

Basic Policy

1. Compliance with Laws, Regulations, and Social Norms

We accurately understand and faithfully comply with the laws, regulations, and contractual requirements of each country and region. We conduct our corporate activities not only in accordance with legal standards but also based on the ethics and integrity expected by society. We sincerely address promises made to customers and business partners as well as contractual requirements, and thoroughly uphold our commitment to keeping those promises as a fundamental principle of our corporate activities.

2. A Sincere Commitment to Quality and Safety

UNIFIVE regards quality and safety as the foundation of its business activities. In every decision related to Products and services, we prioritize reliability and safety and pursue manufacturing that provides customers with confidence and peace of mind. In addition to designing and manufacturing Products that comply with international safety standards and customer-defined safety requirements, we ensure traceability of materials, components, and processes. Rather than prioritizing short-term profits or efficiency alone, we value decisions that lead to long-term trust.

3. Fair and Honest Transactions

We value relationships of trust with our customers, business partners, partner companies, and other stakeholders, and conduct fair and transparent transactions. We prohibit actions that hinder fair competition, bribery, and the provision of improper benefits, and we do not make unreasonable demands by abusing a superior bargaining position over our business partners. We respect the intellectual property rights of others and conduct prior investigations to prevent infringement. In addition, we have established an appropriate export control system in accordance with the export control laws and regulations of each country.

We prohibit transactions of stocks and other securities based on undisclosed material information obtained through work duties (insider trading), as well as the inappropriate disclosure of such information inside or outside the company. Furthermore, we take a firm stance against antisocial forces and sever all relationships with them.

4. Environmental Considerations

We strive to reduce the environmental impact associated with our business activities and promote environmentally conscious technologies, Products, and operations. In addition to complying with environmental laws and regulations, including energy conservation, resource conservation, elimination of hazardous substances, and proper management of wastewater, waste, and emissions, we are committed to resource circulation initiatives such as reducing resource input, utilizing recyclable materials, and minimizing waste.

We establish environmental objectives and targets, continuously review and improve our efforts to achieve them, and promote environmental awareness among all employees in their daily work. When introducing new equipment or expanding factories, we also give consideration to the impact on ecosystems and biodiversity.

5. Employee Awareness and Engagement

In order to fulfill social responsibility, it is important that all employees understand its significance and put it into practice in their respective duties.UNIFIVE develops annual training plans for each department and conducts regular education and training on social responsibility. In addition, through internal audits, we verify the effectiveness of our initiatives and use the results for continuous improvement.

The standards required by society, the business environment, and our customers are constantly changing.UNIFIVE does not simply establish policies and consider the task complete; when issues arise, we focus on identifying the root causes and preventing recurrence while driving improvements. Through regular reviews and ongoing improvements, we strive to achieve better corporate activities.


Human Rights and Labor Practices

UNIFIVE respects fundamental human rights in all countries and regions where it conducts business and promotes labor practices in line with internationally recognized human rights standards.

Prohibition of Child Labor and Forced LaborWe comply with the legally mandated minimum working age in each country and region and prohibit child labor. We also do not tolerate any form of forced labor against a person's will, bonded labor, or human trafficking. The same standards are required of staffing agencies and business partners.
Prohibition of DiscriminationWe prohibit discriminatory treatment in hiring, promotion, wages, and other employment matters based on ethnicity, age, gender, religion, beliefs, or other characteristics.
Prevention of HarassmentWe prohibit abuse, harassment, corporal punishment, and mental or physical coercion against all employees. We provide education on human rights and harassment, establish channels through which employees can express opinions, seek advice, and report concerns regarding human rights or harassment, and maintain a system to take appropriate action in response to reported matters.
Appropriate Wages and Working HoursWe pay wages that meet or exceed the statutory minimum wage in each country and region and prohibit unreasonable wage reductions. We provide wage statements so employees can confirm accurate compensation for their work. To prevent overwork, we appropriately manage working hours, days off, and leave in accordance with the laws and regulations of each country and region, promoting work styles that take employees' physical and mental health into consideration.
Occupational Health and SafetyWe comply with occupational health and safety laws and regulations in each country and region and ensure a safe and clean working environment. Through regular workplace inspections conducted by the QEH Management Committee, we continue efforts to prevent workplace accidents and establish emergency response systems, including the installation of safety devices and protective covers on machinery, provision of protective equipment, development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), proper labeling and management of hazardous chemicals, maintenance of fire protection equipment, and implementation of evacuation drills.

Responsibility in the Supply Chain

UNIFIVE recognizes the fulfillment of social responsibility throughout the entire supply chain, not only within its own business activities, as an important issue. At each stage of procurement, manufacturing, and supply, we are working on compliance with environmental regulations, management of hazardous substances, and responsible sourcing of raw materials.

Management of Contained Chemical Substances

Products components and materials are managed for contained chemical substances in accordance with the RoHS Directive and the REACH Regulation. During incoming inspection, all purchased components are tested using X-ray fluorescence analyzers to measure the content of RoHS-specified hazardous substances and confirm compliance with regulatory limits. In addition, as a countermeasure against ion migration in DC plug parts, we have continued to manage the non-inclusion of red phosphorus flame retardants since 2016. Standards for environmentally hazardous substances are regularly updated based on the laws and regulations of each country and customer requirements.

Responsible Mineral Sourcing

UNIFIVE strives for responsible mineral sourcing to ensure that minerals (tin, tantalum, tungsten, gold, etc.) from conflict-affected and high-risk areas do not become funding sources for armed groups or antisocial forces. Based on the intent of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas, we are working to eliminate the use of conflict minerals in our Products and also respond to customer requests for conflict minerals surveys.

Green Procurement

We strive to prioritize the adoption of components and materials with low environmental impact and confirm environmental management initiatives with our suppliers. Including compliance with our customers' green procurement standards, we promote environmental consideration throughout the entire supply chain.

Supplier CSR Audits

We require all suppliers to comply with standards related to social responsibility. We conduct annual social responsibility surveys to evaluate suppliers' CSR initiatives and, when necessary, follow up on corrective actions and manage the related records.

Information Management

Confidential information entrusted to us by customers and business partners is protected under a strict management system to prevent leakage to third parties. Personal information of employees and related parties is also properly managed in accordance with the personal information protection laws and regulations of each country and region.

In addition, we implement measures to defend against cybersecurity threats, and we appropriately disclose information regarding our business activities, the safety of our Products, quality, and environmental initiatives through our website and other channels.


Quality Management

UNIFIVE positions quality as the most important foundation of its business activities and has established a company-wide quality management system based on the concept of Total Quality Control (TQC) in accordance with JIS Z 8101 (Quality Control Terminology).

Quality Control System

Each department, including design, manufacturing, quality assurance, and management, works in coordination to control quality throughout all processes, from the collection of specification information to design, development, mass production, and post-shipment maintenance activities. At the design stage, the QA department conducts design verification from a third-party perspective, and at the manufacturing stage, a management system based on process FMEA is implemented. From daily quality improvements to handling market complaints, we consistently carry out root cause identification, corrective actions, and recurrence prevention.

Certification Acquisition and Standards Compliance

In addition to obtaining ISO9001:2015 and ISO14001:2015 certifications, we comply with various international safety standards and factory certifications, including Japan PSE, UL/CUL, TUV, EK-MARK, CCC, and BSMI. We not only meet the safety standards of each country but also comply with customer-specific safety requirements, ensuring traceability of materials, components, and processes.

Continuous Quality Improvement

At the beginning of each year, quality objectives are established across all departments, and management reviews are conducted monthly to allow executives to monitor progress. In the event of a quality issue, we promptly verify the facts, report quickly and accurately to both internal and external stakeholders, thoroughly investigate the root cause, and implement measures to prevent recurrence.

In the design of AC/DC Power Adapters — Desktop & Wall-Mount and switching power supplies, we standardly ensure compliance with energy efficiency regulations in various countries, including U.S. DOE Level VII and EU ErP Lot 7. Through Products designs that achieve both reduced standby power consumption and improved conversion efficiency, we support our customers in ensuring that their end Products comply with environmental regulations in each country.

Promotion of Miniaturization and High-Efficiency Technologies

We are promoting the miniaturization, weight reduction, and higher efficiency of Products by leveraging various technologies, including the adoption of next-generation power semiconductors and the optimization of circuit design. By reducing volume and weight compared to conventional designs while improving conversion efficiency, we contribute to resource conservation and reduced environmental impact throughout the entire lifecycle of our Products.

Long-Life Design and Resource Efficiency

Extending the lifespan of power supply Products directly leads to waste reduction and effective use of resources. UNIFIVE adopts a design approach that maximizes Products lifespan, from component selection to thermal design and reliability testing. By proposing power supply designs tailored to the lifecycle of our customers' equipment, we help reduce unnecessary disposal and re-procurement, thereby contributing to improved resource efficiency.
