A device that protects components and equipment from high voltages such as lightning strikes. It has a high insulation resistance under normal voltage, but exhibits a characteristic where the resistance decreases when a certain high voltage is applied. By utilizing this characteristic, it is installed between the protected components/equipment and the ground to divert high voltage caused by lightning to the ground, thereby preventing damage.
