Contamination level
Creepage distance and clearance are important factors that determine insulation distance. According to IEC standards, pollution degree is classified into the following four levels.
Pollution degree 1: Conditions in clean air, such as in a clean room.
Pollution degree 2: Environments where electrical equipment is used in control panels, home appliances, or office equipment.
Pollution degree 3: Environments such as general factories.
Pollution degree 4: Outdoor environments, etc.
As the pollution degree increases, the risk of insulation breakdown or short circuit caused by condensation from dust and humidity increases, so the insulation distance needs to be increased.
