FMEA(Fault Mode and Effects Analysis)
An abbreviation for Fault Mode and Effects Analysis. In the design stage of a power supply circuit, it involves assuming single failure modes for all components (meaning multiple failures do not occur simultaneously) and predicting in advance what effects those failures will have. Conducting FMEA in the early stages of design has the advantage of preventing rework. If the results of FMEA predict phenomena that could lead to failure, such as components generating heat, abnormal testing may be conducted to intentionally cause actual destruction.
