A capacitor that uses plastic film as a dielectric. It may also be referred to by the name of the material used, such as a polyester (Mylar) capacitor. Its advantages include high precision and minimal variation in capacitance due to temperature or voltage, making it frequently used in parts requiring high fidelity, such as measuring instruments, low-frequency filters, and audio circuits. However, it has the drawback of poor high-frequency characteristics, so it is not suitable for components that handle high frequencies such as in televisions or radios.
