Film capacitor
A capacitor that uses plastic film as the dielectric. It may also be referred to by the name of the material used, and a polyester (Mylar) capacitor is one example. It has the advantage of high precision with minimal capacitance variation due to temperature or voltage, and is often used in measuring instruments, low-frequency filters, and audio circuits where high fidelity is required. Because it has poor high-frequency characteristics, it is not suitable for components in televisions or radios where high frequencies are present.
