Filter

An element used in electrical circuits to attenuate and eliminate unwanted frequencies such as harmonics that cause noise. Each filter has a different attenuation effect depending on the frequency; generally, the attenuation is greatest at a certain frequency and becomes less effective as the frequency becomes higher (or lower). Therefore, a filter with attenuation characteristics suited to the frequency of the noise to be removed is selected.
