Filter

In electrical circuits, a component used to attenuate and remove unwanted frequencies such as harmonic noise. The attenuation effect relative to frequency differs for each filter; typically, attenuation is greatest at a certain frequency, and the reduction effect decreases as the frequency becomes higher (or lower) than that point. Therefore, a filter with attenuation characteristics matched to the frequency of the noise to be removed is selected.
