Filter

A component used in electrical circuits to attenuate and remove unwanted frequencies such as harmonic noise. The attenuation effect with respect to frequency differs depending on the filter; typically, attenuation is greatest at a certain frequency and decreases as the frequency becomes higher (or lower) than that point. Therefore, a filter with attenuation characteristics matched to the frequency of the noise to be removed is selected.
