Smoothing capacitor
In the process of converting AC voltage into stable DC voltage, when the rectifier circuit uses diodes to convert it into unidirectional DC voltage, the voltage magnitude is not yet constant. Therefore, a smoothing circuit converts the fluctuating DC voltage into a stable DC voltage with a constant magnitude. The smoothing circuit is composed of a capacitor, coil, and resistor, and the capacitor is called a smoothing capacitor. The smoothing capacitor stabilizes the voltage by charging the portions higher than the average value of the rectified DC voltage and discharging during the portions lower than the average value.
