Barista

A component used to protect electrical and electronic devices from external surges such as lightning surges and switching surges. It has a structure where semiconductor ceramics are sandwiched between two electrodes and possesses the characteristic that its resistance decreases as the voltage increases. Under normal operating voltage, it has high resistance and no current flows, but as the voltage increases, the resistance decreases, bypassing high surge voltages and protecting the device.
