Barista

A component that protects electrical and electronic equipment from high voltage caused by external surges such as lightning surges and switching surges. It has a structure in which semiconductor ceramics are sandwiched between two electrodes, and it exhibits the characteristic that its resistance decreases as the voltage increases. At normal operating voltage, it has high resistance and does not allow current to flow, but as the voltage rises, the resistance decreases, diverting high surge voltage to protect the equipment.
