JET

This refers to the Japan Electrical Safety & Environment Technology Laboratories (JET). Established in 1963 as a designated testing organization under the Electrical Appliance and Material Control Act (currently the Electrical Appliances and Materials Safety Act), it succeeded the national testing operations. Under the former act, JET primarily conducted type approval tests for Class A electrical appliances. After the revised law came into effect in 2001 as part of regulatory reforms, JET continued its operations by conducting testing, inspections, and certification for electrical products, issuing S-JET certifications, and supporting the new regulations. In addition to S-JET certification, JET engages in international operations by collaborating with overseas testing organizations to provide global certification support, and is also actively involved in technical cooperation with developing countries.
