Harmonic

AC other than sinusoidal alternating current is called distorted wave, and it consists of a fundamental wave (sinusoidal) and harmonics. Harmonics are composed of multiple sine waves with frequencies that are integer multiples of the fundamental wave. They can be calculated using Fourier series expansion. Harmonics often have a negative effect on equipment as noise. Therefore, by determining the frequencies of the harmonics, they can be eliminated using filter circuits that attenuate those frequencies.

UNIFIVE offers AC/DC Power Adapters — Desktop & Wall-Mount and switching power supplies compatible with the new harmonic current standards promoted by the Japan Lighting Manufacturers Association.
