Harmonic

AC other than sine wave is called a distorted wave, and is composed of a sine wave as the fundamental wave and harmonics. Harmonics consist of multiple sine waves with frequencies that are integer multiples of the fundamental wave, and can be calculated using Fourier series expansion. Harmonics often adversely affect equipment as noise. Therefore, by determining the frequency of the harmonics, they can be removed using filter circuits with characteristics that attenuate those frequencies.

Unifive offers a selection of AC/DC power adapters — desktop & wall-mount and switching power supplies that support the new harmonic current standards promoted by the Japan Lighting Manufacturers Association.
