Pulsation rate
This is a numerical value that represents the proportion of AC components contained in the DC (pulsating current) output from a regulated DC power supply, and is also called ripple (ripple factor).
ΔVac: Effective value of the AC component contained in the DC (pulsating current)
Vdc: Average value of the DC (pulsating current)
Then, the ripple factor is expressed by the following formula.
Ripple factor: γ = (ΔVac/Vdc) x 100 (%)
It is a numerical value that indicates the accuracy of the DC voltage output from a regulated DC power supply. The smaller the ripple factor, the higher the stability of the DC voltage. The ripple factor of a perfect DC is 0 (%).
