Line filter

In power supply equipment, a noise filter is inserted to block conducted noise such as input feedback noise from the power supply circuit to the AC power source, external noise, and external surges. It is required to reduce noise to within the standards specified by the Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Act. A line filter can reduce common mode noise generated between electric lines and ground, but it cannot reduce normal mode noise generated between electric lines.
