Initial failure period
Bathtub curve (failure rate curve) refers to the period in which the failure rate sharply decreases from the installation of the equipment until it enters the random failure period. During this period, a large number of failures caused by defects in the design and manufacturing stages of the equipment, known as early failures, occur. As the causes of these failures are analyzed and resolved, early failures decline rapidly, and the equipment enters the random failure period. Especially when the equipment undergoes a model change and parts are renewed, the lack of failure data tends to result in a higher rate of early failures.
