Initial failure period

Bathtub Curve (failure rate curve) refers to the period of rapidly decreasing failure rate from the installation of equipment to the onset of the random failure phase. During this period, many failures occur due to defects originating from the design or manufacturing stages of the equipment, known as initial failures. As the causes of failures are identified, initial failures quickly decrease and the system enters the random failure phase. Especially when components are completely renewed due to model changes, initial failures tend to increase due to the lack of failure data.
