Natural air cooling

A cooling method that does not use an external power source such as a fan to dissipate heat generated by electrical and electronic equipment. Heat is released through natural air convection, radiation, and thermal conduction. To enhance natural cooling, a heat sink for natural cooling may be installed to increase the surface area of the cooling surface or to facilitate convection. If heat dissipation is insufficient with natural cooling alone, forced cooling using a fan or other devices is employed.
