Output short circuit

Short-circuiting the output terminals of a power supply circuit with a low-resistance conductor such as a jumper wire. Short circuits may occur accidentally during installation or inspection, or due to water intrusion, allowing a large output current to flow and causing failure. As a preventive measure, a protection function can be added that stops (or limits) the input voltage or output current when an output short circuit is detected.
