Peak value

The peak value (maximum value) of waveforms other than direct current, such as AC waveforms and pulse waveforms. For sinusoidal AC, it corresponds to the crest value. It is also one of the standard values that represent the magnitude of high-frequency noise. Other values that represent the magnitude of high-frequency noise include the average value and quasi-peak value. In AC waveforms, measures to prevent electric shock from high voltage are based on the peak value.
