Conducted noise

Noise is broadly classified into normal mode noise and common mode noise, each of which is further divided into conducted noise and radiated noise. While radiated noise is emitted from power lines into the air, conducted noise is noise that propagates along power lines. The main countermeasures against radiated noise are as follows.

  1. Countermeasures using soft switching
  2. Countermeasures through effective use of snubbers
  3. Countermeasures by using soft recovery diodes and Schottky barrier diodes
  4. Countermeasures through the use of ferrite beads and coils
  5. Countermeasures utilizing the static characteristics of switching transformers
  6. Countermeasures by grounding the core of the switching transformer
