Taiwan BSMI certification was officially announced on April 10, 2017, as part of an additional compliance to Taiwan RoHS, which will be enforced from January 1, 2018. Going forward, products subject to Taiwan BSMI certification will need to either apply for new certification (acquiring new compliance standards) or update the product classification number for already certified certificates. Also, when applying for new or updated certifications, materials related to Taiwan RoHS must be included.
At Unifive, with regard to Taiwan RoHS compliance under the Taiwan BSMI certification, we will sequentially update the Taiwan BSMI certification for catalog-listed models to comply with the additional Taiwan RoHS regulations that will be enforced from January 1, 2018. The related updates to Taiwan BSMI certification under Taiwan RoHS compliance are explained below. Please review for confirmation.
About Taiwan RoHS Compliance
1. Modification of the Taiwan BSMI certification mark label (regarding RoHS addition)
In the future, it will be mandatory to display labels on models updated for Taiwan RoHS compliance.
Before Taiwan RoHS Update
Arrow mark + R XXXXX number.
After Taiwan RoHS Update (Updated)
Arrow mark + R XXXXX number + Taiwan RoHS mark.
- *The presence of "RoHS" on the label allows identification/recognition of the model as updated for Taiwan RoHS.
2. Statement of Content of Restricted Substances
According to "Section 5 Content Labeling" of CNS15663, it is mandatory to display the content of restricted substances. At Unifive, we publish the statement of restricted substances content on our website for reference. This applies to all models that display the Taiwan BSMI certification mark with the Taiwan RoHS update.

Regarding the Future
- Please note that for Taiwan BSMI certification models obtained by Unifive on behalf of customers, if the existing certifications are not updated by the deadline of December 31, 2017, in accordance with the Taiwan RoHS addition to be enforced on January 1, 2018, the certificates will be invalidated. If you wish to request support for Taiwan RoHS compliance, Unifive can carry out the application process on your behalf. Please contact your sales representative for details.
- For customer inventory items, even if the Taiwan RoHS mark is not displayed, they can still be imported into Taiwan until December 31, 2017. For products already imported into Taiwan, it is not necessary to change the labels.
