Safe Handling of AC/DC Power Adapter Part 1 "Do Not Get Wet"

AC/DC Power Adapter We introduce safe handling methods for AC adapters. In Part 1, we present the theme "Do not get it wet."

AC/DC Power Adapter: Do not get it wet

During investigations requested by customers, we have found cases where malfunctions were believed to have been caused by liquids.

Most AC/DC Power Adapter cases are ultrasonically welded, but they are not completely sealed (waterproof).

Many liquid-related failures occur when liquid enters near the DC cable outlet of the main unit, or through the movable AC pins on models with foldable plugs, leading to a short circuit in the conductive parts of the internal board. In addition, when used near a humidifier, rust may form inside the DC plug due to the effects of moisture, and this rust has caused short circuits inside the DC plug. This is due to chloride ions contained in tap water.

To prevent the above types of failures, we kindly ask customers to pay attention to the following points.

  1. Do not use in humid places where it may be exposed to water droplets
  2. Use in a way that prevents condensation caused by moisture or humidity
  3. Do not store or leave in places where it may get wet from water, beverages, or rain
  4. If you suspect that water or a foreign object has entered, unplug the AC/DC Power Adapter from the outlet and consult us or your retailer

"So you were the culprit…(;´д`)"

Even if customers themselves are careful about the above points, there may be unexpected hidden factors. One such factor is small animals, so-called "pets".

Electrical Products such as AC/DC Power Adapter may feel moderately warm, especially in winter, and pets may settle there. As a result, we have received Products covered in fur for failure analysis. However, in such cases, the cause of failure has never been different from what we expected, even without opening the case, just from the smell and the way it was soiled. (T_T)

In any case, failures caused by liquids may lead to serious accidents, so please exercise sufficient caution.
