Safe Handling of AC/DC Power Adapters — Desktop & Wall-Mount: Part 1 "Keep Dry"
We are introducing safe handling methods for AC/DC Power Adapters — Desktop & Wall-Mount. In the first installment, the theme is "Keep them dry."
AC/DC Power Adapters — Desktop & Wall-Mount: Do Not Get Wet
During investigations requested by customers, there have been cases suspected to be caused by liquid intrusion.
Although many AC/DC Power Adapters — Desktop & Wall-Mount cases are ultrasonically welded, they are not completely sealed or waterproof.
Most liquid-related failures occur near the DC cable outlet of the device, or via the movable part of the AC pin when it's a movable type, where the liquid enters and causes a short circuit on conductive parts of the internal circuit board. Also, there have been cases where rust formed inside the DC plug due to proximity to humidifiers, leading to a short circuit inside the plug. This is due to the effect of chlorine ions contained in tap water.
To prevent such failures, we kindly ask our customers to take note of the following points:
- Do not use in areas with high humidity where water droplets may contact the device.
- Use in a way that prevents the formation of condensation due to moisture or humidity.
- Do not store or leave the product in locations where it may get wet from water, beverages, rainwater, etc.
- If there is any suspicion that water or foreign matter has entered the device, unplug the AC/DC Power Adapters — Desktop & Wall-Mount and consult us or your retailer.

"So it was you all along... (;´д`)"
Even if you take precautions regarding the above, there may still be hidden culprits — namely, small animals or so-called “pets.”
Electrical devices such as AC/DC Power Adapters — Desktop & Wall-Mount may attract them, perhaps because they are gently warm in winter, and they may settle near them. As a result, we have received devices for fault inspection completely covered in fur. In such cases, from the smell and level of contamination alone, we've never been wrong in suspecting the cause of failure even without looking inside. (T_T)
In any case, liquid-related failures may lead to serious accidents, so please take sufficient care.
