About reliability testing
This page introduces some of the reliability tests for AC/DC power adapters — desktop & wall-mount, and switching power supplies. Based on extensive experience accumulated as a switching power supply manufacturer, Unifive conducts various reliability tests. We also accommodate testing conditions requested by customers and the addition of a wide range of test items.
Reliability Test
Reliability test items are broadly divided into two categories: "Electrical Reliability Tests" and "Mechanical Reliability Tests".
Electrical Reliability Tests
Voltage fluctuation, low/high temperature operation, low/high temperature storage, energized high temperature storage, thermal shock, condensation, temperature storage, continuous operation durability, noise terminal voltage, unwanted radiation, static electricity, impulse noise, lightning surge, power interruption, radiated electromagnetic field immunity, AM/FM radio interference, noise, temperature rise, abnormal temperature rise, leakage current, dielectric withstand voltage, insulation resistance, residual current, primary side electrolytic capacitor, overvoltage, terminal short circuit, 100°C, 96H storage, liquid drip, open/short test, destruction during intermediate conditions, test against out-of-spec voltage, others, etc.
Mechanical Reliability Tests
Examples of reliability test items related to the casing of AC/DC Power Adapters — Desktop & Wall-Mount
Drop test, vibration test, rotational shock, enclosure compression, single blade insertion of AC plug, stepping strength, dust resistance, AC plug insertion/removal test, flame resistance, others, etc.
DC Cable Section
Bending strength, low temperature bending, tensile strength, twisting test, migration test, internal plug treatment, others, etc.
Plug Section
Insertion/removal durability, locking strength, twisting test, strength during incorrect insertion, others, etc.
In our laboratory, verification of conduction, ESD, EFT, surge & EMI, etc., is also possible. In addition, we conduct test conditions and items according to customer requirements.
