About Original Designs

We have received many requests from customers who would like an original design AC/DC Power Adapter for their Products.

At UNIFIVE, our Products are made to order, and each model can be handled on a project-by-project basis with semi-custom support. Therefore, we strive to accommodate such requests as much as possible. Of course, depending on the details, certain conditions may apply. Even so, in most cases we are able to achieve a level of satisfaction for our customers, realizing a wide range of original design requests.

However, depending on the type and intended use of the customer's equipment, different technical standards and safety requirements apply. Therefore, an appropriate AC/DC Power Adapter that complies with the necessary safety standards is required.

From UNIFIVE's design perspective, AC/DC Power Adapter prioritize "safety first" over price or appearance, and design inevitably becomes a secondary consideration. Our "safety first" philosophy must be balanced with the customer's desire for an "original design." The challenges of original design involve not only the Products's appearance but also the potential risks mentioned above. Based on discussions with customers, we often develop custom power supplies to achieve feasible original designs while addressing these risks.

Examples of Original Design Support

Case 1: Wanting a Design Like Interior Decor

Company A considered the design of their Products to be the top priority. They contacted us because they wanted a Products design, including the AC/DC Power Adapter, that perfectly matched their product image while also satisfying safety standards. We informed the customer of the necessary distances and spacing required on the internal circuit board to meet safety standards. The customer then designed the exterior housing of the AC/DC Power Adapter, including the outer case and the grip portion of a proprietary DC plug to prevent incorrect insertion, and we collaborated on the overall Products design.

In this case, the customer bore the costs of mold production for parts such as the outer case and the resin grip of the DC plug, as well as safety standard evaluation fees and design and development costs. As a result, they were able to sell their own Products bundled with a one-of-a-kind AC/DC Power Adapter, leading to great satisfaction.

Case 2: Wanting Color Variations for the AC/DC Power Adapter

A home appliance manufacturer consulted us because their Products was white, and they wanted to match this color by changing the housing and DC cable of the selected UNIFIVE AC/DC Power Adapter to white. They also requested two color options, white and gray. By adjusting the colorant mixed into the resin material of the housing, we maintained the flame-retardant grade of the housing. Similarly, for the DC cable, we changed only the colorant without altering the flame retardant in the outer coating, enabling two color variations while maintaining flame resistance.

Case 3: Wanting to Change the Design of Products Packaging (Individual Packaging) to an Original Design

At consumer electronics retailers, portable charging AC/DC Power Adapter such as 12V and 24V models are often sold by various companies. One such customer consulted us because they needed to change the individual packaging design of their AC/DC Power Adapter for retail sales. (Blister packs and backing cards significantly influence sales performance for charging-related products.)

The customer designed the blister pack and packaging (the plastic individual box and the backing card inside), and we created the molds for the backing card and plastic case to support their requirements.

As a result, the customer was able to launch their Products to the market with the desired design, leading to their satisfaction.
