Measures for waterproofing and dustproofing

This page introduces dustproof and waterproof measures for AC adapters and switching power supplies. We classify dustproof and waterproof performance according to the electrical equipment, and provide AC/DC power adapters — desktop & wall-mount — in customized or modified versions based on the IEC60529 international protection rating certification. Regarding safety and reliability certifications, various necessary verifications are conducted at our factory or by third-party certification organizations.

What Is IP?

IP stands for Ingress Protection, which is an internationally recognized certification for water and dust resistance.

The Ingress Protection Rating (or IP rating) is defined under the International Protection Marking by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC 60529), which classifies electrical devices based on their resistance to dust and water. This system is commonly referred to as an IPxx rating and is aligned with EU standard EN60529.

The two digits following "IP" indicate the following:

• First digit: "Dust protection" level, indicating protection against solid objects entering the equipment (including fingers and tools, to prevent access to internal components).
• Second digit: "Water protection" level, indicating protection against moisture and water ingress.

The higher the numbers, the stronger the protection.

Depending on customer requirements, we proceed with the necessary safety certifications for target shipment countries following the steps outlined below as a reference.

Many Electrical and Electronic Devices Are Designed with the Following in Mind:

• Preventing contact with hazardous parts by hands, fingers, metal rods, or wires (access to hazardous parts)
• Protecting internal circuits from intrusion by metal rods, wires, dust, or other solid foreign materials (solid objects)
• Protecting internal components from spilled tea, moisture, rain, splashes, etc. (ingress of water)

Poor design or misuse may degrade product performance, cause failure, or pose safety risks (such as electric shock or fire). Products used outdoors or in high-humidity environments must be designed and tested with IP ratings in mind.
