Surface distance
In maintaining insulation between conductors, it defines the necessary clearance distance. While creepage distance is the straight-line distance between conductors, creepage distance refers to the path along the surface of an object such as a substrate on which the conductors are mounted, and it varies depending on the material of the object. The higher the insulating property of the object, the shorter the creepage distance can be. Many safety standards for electronic devices stipulate the creepage distance required to maintain proper insulation.
