Impedance
In electric and electronic circuits, when a sinusoidal AC voltage is applied, the total of the resistance (R), inductance (L), and capacitance (C) is called the impedance, denoted as Z, and when the angular frequency of the AC voltage is represented by ω, it is expressed by the following formula:
Z = R + jωL + 1 / jwC
In an AC circuit, when a voltage is applied, the magnitude and phase of the current, as well as the power and power factor, are determined by the value of the impedance. Note that admittance is the reciprocal of impedance.
