Open Site

An experimental facility used by electrical equipment manufacturers and others to measure electromagnetic waves emitted from devices during product development. It is installed outdoors and is used not only to measure electromagnetic waves generated by equipment but also to evaluate the effects of external electromagnetic waves on the equipment. Open sites are constructed based on the standards of each country, which comply with the regulations of the International Special Committee on Radio Interference (CISPR). Generally, there are three types of site configurations based on the distance between the measuring antenna and the equipment under test: 3 m, 10 m, and 30 m methods. The facility is equipped with a turntable, measuring antenna, metallic ground plane, and measurement room. In contrast, an anechoic chamber, which is also used for electromagnetic wave measurements, is capable of conducting more advanced measurements that are difficult to perform at an open site.
