Open site
An experimental facility used by electrical equipment manufacturers and others to measure electromagnetic waves emitted from devices during product development. It is installed outdoors and is also used to measure not only the electromagnetic waves emitted by the device but also the effects of external electromagnetic interference on the device. Open sites are built based on standards from various countries, which conform to regulations set by the International Special Committee on Radio Interference (CISPR). Generally, there are three types of standard site dimensions—3m, 10m, and 30m—based on the distance between the measuring antenna and the device under test. The facilities are equipped with a turntable, measuring antenna, metallic ground plane, and a measurement chamber. Advanced measurements that are difficult to perform in anechoic chambers, which are also used for electromagnetic wave testing, are conducted here.
