CSA
Refers to the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). Established in 1919 as the Canadian Engineering Standards Association, it was renamed CSA in 1944. It operates the CSA standards, which are safety standards for electrical products, medical devices, machinery, and instruments in Canada. Under the laws of all provinces and territories in Canada, as well as federal law, equipment used with commercial power supplies and high-safety equipment such as gas and oil combustion appliances are required to meet CSA standards. In the United States, it is regarded as equivalent to UL, managed by Underwriters Laboratories, through mutual certification processes.
