CSA
Refers to the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). It was established in 1919 as the Canadian Engineering Standards Association and was renamed CSA in 1944. It operates the CSA standards, which are safety standards in Canada for electrical Products, medical devices, machinery, and equipment. The laws of all provinces and territories in Canada, or federal law, stipulate that equipment used with commercial power supplies and equipment requiring high safety standards such as gas and oil combustion appliances must meet CSA standards. In the United States as well, through a partnership with Underwriters Laboratories, which operates UL, CSA is positioned as equivalent to UL.
