EMC

Electromagnetic compatibility refers to the ability of electronic and electrical devices to operate without emitting electromagnetic waves that affect other devices. It also includes the resistance of such equipment to electromagnetic waves emitted by other devices. EMC standards are defined by the Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Act. Meeting EMC standards is an important factor in the design and manufacturing of electrical and electronic devices. One method to meet these standards is to enclose the equipment in a shielded enclosure that blocks electromagnetic waves.
