ISO (International Organization for Standardization)

Established in 1942 and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a non-governmental organization. Its main activity is to develop international standards that transcend national boundaries in order to facilitate global trade. Standards developed by ISO are referred to as ISO standards. These standards are not limited to products but also include management systems to control the quality and environmental activities of organizations. In the field related to electrical and electronic devices, Japan joined ISO in 1952 through the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee (JISC) and has been involved in standards such as ISO 9001 for quality management systems and ISO 14001 for environmental management systems.
