JIS standard
It refers to the Japanese Industrial Standards, which are national standards established under the Industrial Standardization Act with the aim of promoting industrial standardization. The fields of these standards cover 20 sectors, including civil engineering and construction, automobiles, consumer goods, and information processing, in addition to electronic equipment and electrical machinery. As of March 2019, the total number of standards amounts to 10,773. Since the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT Agreement) came into effect in 1995, harmonization with international standards has also been promoted. A legal revision took place on July 1, 2019, and the name was changed from Japanese Industrial Standards to Japanese Industrial Standards.
