caulking
A method of joining two components without using welding or adhesives, instead utilizing the interlocking shapes of the parts. Compared to welding or adhesives, it has advantages such as not requiring heating, making it suitable for painted metal, and enabling the joining of dissimilar materials. Types of crimping include lock seam crimping, seaming, hemming, spot crimping, and corner crimping. Double-sided crimping is also one type, with bolts and nuts being widely known examples.
