Opening surge
In an AC electric circuit, this refers to a phenomenon where an abnormal voltage momentarily higher than the rated voltage occurs when a circuit breaker or similar device is switched on or off. Although switching is done at the zero-voltage point, such abnormal voltage can occur if the power factor is leading or lagging due to the presence of current at that moment. Switching surges become greater with increased load current and may have a negative impact on the power supply circuit on the load side as noise.
