Noise field strength

Noise is broadly classified into two categories: conducted noise and radiated noise. Among these, radiated noise refers to the electromagnetic waves emitted into the air from wiring, and its electric field strength. The unit of electric field strength is volts per meter (V/m). When expressing noise field strength, decibels (dBμV/m) based on 1μV/m are used on a logarithmic scale. Noise field strength needs to be kept within standard limits to avoid adverse effects on other electrical and electronic devices, and it is mainly measured using interference wave measuring instruments (radio wave measuring instruments).
