Resistance

In electric circuits, it is a component that limits the flow of current in response to voltage, and the degree of difficulty for current to flow is determined by resistivity. It is one of the basic and important components that make up switching circuits. It is mainly used to control (step down) voltage, but it generates losses due to heat. All materials have resistance as a property; materials with very low resistance are used as conductors, and materials with very high resistance are used as insulators. A pure resistor allows an alternating voltage to produce a current with a similar waveform and in the same phase.
