Case 1: Switchcraft plug
We received a request to select a plug compatible with a large current of 10A, and provided a Switchcraft S1017 plug and 1185#16 cable.

Background: Applications requiring high currents around 10A, such as industrial equipment, large LED lighting systems, and devices with drive mechanisms. Challenge: Standard DC plugs are typically rated for 2~5A, and options become limited in the 10A class. In addition to the plug itself, the cable conductor size must also match the required current capacity. Without expertise in both plugs and cables, it is difficult to provide an optimal solution. Our Solution: We selected the S1017 plug from Switchcraft, known for its high-current DC connectors, and paired it with 1185#16 (AWG16 conductor) cable. By integrating the plug and cable, we established a configuration capable of safely transmitting the customer's required current. Key Point: For high-current applications, it is essential to evaluate the entire system, including cable conductor size, heat generation at connection points, and temperature rise, rather than focusing solely on the plug's rated current. |
